The data structure is hierachical. At the top level are what we call "Phases", typical examples of which are Patient Registration, Triage, and Medical Examination. Phases are a way of breaking the patient encounter process into a number of stages, which may also relate to the different personnel who interract with your patients. Each phase is accessed via a customizable phase button at the top of the screen.

Each phase can have any number of "Attributes" (data items), which may be grouped into "Collections". Think of Collections as sections of a paper form and Attributes as the items in each section. In the out-of-box system, Patient Registration's first Collection is Patient Identification (Name, Address, etc) and its second collection is Responsible Party. You can add your own Phases, Collections and Attributes, or simply edit the ones that already exist.

It's easy to extend the functionality of the system to accommodate extra processes you may wish to add as you further automate your patient care process.
